On Thursday, April 5, Auburn University's Raymond J. Harbert College of Business kicked off the
2018 Auburn University Entrepreneurship Summit, a two-day event featuring programs aimed at honoring alumni and students from each of AU's colleges and schools. The summit will include student business pitch competitions, an Entrepreneur Hall of Fame induction gala, and the Top Tigers awards.
The Top Tigers awards, presented in partnership with Business Alabama magazine and Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors, recognizes the fastest-growing companies founded, owned or led by Auburn University alumni. Nominees are categorized by company size - Small, Medium, and Large - and then ranked.
Airship ranked #1 atop the 2018 Small Companies category for outstanding revenue growth and will be honored at the Top Tigers awards luncheon on Friday, April 6th. CEO and Co-founder
Trent Kocurek and Lead Opportunity Explorer
Luke Richardson, both Auburn alumni, will be accepting the Top Tigers award on behalf of Airship. "It's an honor to be recognized alongside such prominent businesses," said Kocurek. "When I say Airship wouldn't be here if it weren't for Auburn, I mean it. While at Auburn I joined the fantastic Co-op program through the college of business. Through this, I had the opportunity to work for a company I greatly admire to this day called
Daxko. I met my co-founder,
Adam Aldrich, at Daxko and we began Airship together." Nominees are evaluated based on revenue growth and their ability to operate in a manner consistent with the Auburn Creed. Salt Life President and 1988 Auburn business graduate Jeff Stillwell will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon event. "At Airship, we have a large metal sign above our door that says Pursue Excellence. This mantra is very important to us. We will proudly display this award in our office to remind us what is possible as we continue to pursue excellence every day in everything that we do."
