Welcome to the Airship Book Club! You're invited to join our quest for good reads.  At Airship, our mission is simple: " Pursue Excellence." We're always eager to work toward becoming the best versions of ourselves -- that's why we're lifelong learners and commit 20% of our time to learning. If you're also interested in personal development and/or all-around good reading material, check out the Airship Book Club list below. We update this recommended reading list often with our favorites. If you have suggestions for our next book(s), we want to know! Tell us using our handy .

NOTE: The titles below are linked to their corresponding Amazon listing where you can find multiple versions of the book to suit your learning style (paperback, Kindle, audiobook, etc.). We saw the book club as an opportunity to earn a little extra coin for our favorite local parks and green spaces (same as  Magic City Stickers). As such, we have become a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to and affiliated sites. 100% of our earned fees will be donated equally to Red Mountain Park, Railroad Park, Vulcan Park, and Ruffner Mountain. Hey, every little bit counts and worth it for the pursuit of excellence!

Start with: What problem are you trying to solve?

One of the activities we work through revolves around refining your problem statement. A problem statement is the key business problem that needs to be solved. In software development, it states “what has to be done” for a project to succeed. It does not say, “how it has to be done.”

We use the 5W’s + 1 H format as well as the SMART Framework when establishing a problem statement. In fact, you can draft your own problem statement by using our free download. This download will get you thinking through some of the questions and answers prior to starting your project.
